Production
The film must have been produced during 2022-2024 to be selected for the competition.
Premiere status
Please let us know if your film, if selected, will have Swedish, European, or world premiere. This information will be in the film program and in our marketing of the festival and the films.
Subtitles
If the film is not in Swedish or English, subtitles in Swedish or English are required. Swedish subtitles are preferred, but not required.
Format for projection
Video
Quality: We accept resolutions from HD to 4K regardless if it is a short or a feature length film. For screening on a larger screen, we require 2K-4K.
Format: MOV or MP4
Codec: H264
The material must be finished with high quality without audio or visual errors.
Copyright
The creators bear the responsibility that their film does not violate copyright and that the music, images, or film sequences made by other creators are used with permission. Västerås Film Festival and Nordic Star Festival deny all responsibility.
The Competition
The competition is open to amateurs, semi-professionals, and professionals.
Our awards are valued over the world. We are proud to give out our awards to great filmmakers, directors, actors, and others. We look at many parts of a film. We look for creativity, quality, and artistic talents. We consider diversity and that’s what makes a film unique as a guiding star for our selection. We try to find the expression and content which develops the ideas of film creation.
So do not hesitate to submit your film to us!
